This course allows you to deal with the theory side of groomer training from the comfort of
your own home and in your own time. Although it is suggested that each unit takes
approximately one month, it is very flexible to allow you to fit your learning in with your busy
lifestyle.
The course consists of 6 units as follows:
Unit 1 – Health & safety, tools & equipment, bathing, drying and anatomy.
Unit 2 – General care (anal glands, nails, ears, eyes, skin and teeth)
Unit 3 – Clipping lines, breed knowledge and glossary of terms.
Unit 4 – Internal & external parasites.
Unit 5 – Diseases and general conditions
Unit 6 – First aid, salon planning and design.
There is also a Special Studies section that requires you to put together a small book-like
presentation of 5 specified breeds of dogs.
Joanne marks and grades all the papers herself and is available for advice (not answers) as
required.
